According to the legal regulations, for tests ordered by another doctor (specialist practice, hospital), the Referral must IN ALL CASES be issued by the doctor indicating the test. Specialized tests recommended during private healthcare cannot be performed in the public healthcare system. A family doctor cannot issue such a referral, because the NEAK may sanction it. In accordance with the above, family doctors ask patients to request referrals from the specialist on site for tests ordered at the specialist practice or hospital, on paper or as an e-Referral. For control tests ordered by the specialist, the specialist will provide a referral and an appointment.
